Buying guides without the hype.
Most product roundups rank things they never explain. We do it the other way round: we tell you which specifications actually change how a product performs, so you can judge any model yourself — including the ones we never write about.
Start with a category
Each guide covers what the spec sheet means, where manufacturers inflate numbers, and a checklist to run before you buy.

Portable power stations
Watt-hours versus watts, why LiFePO4 changed the category, and the surge-rating trap that leaves people unable to run a fridge.

Robot vacuums
Suction ratings are close to meaningless on their own. What matters is brush design, navigation, and how much of the machine you have to clean yourself.

Standing desks
Wobble is the only failure mode people regret, and it is predictable from the frame design. Here is how to read one.

Air
Air purifiers
CADR, room size claims, and the running cost nobody mentions until the first filter needs replacing.

What makes these different
We say what we did and did not test
We are a small research-led site, not a laboratory. We read manuals, teardowns, standards documents and long-term owner reports, and we tell you which of those a claim rests on. If we have not put our hands on something, we say so rather than implying otherwise. Our full method is on the How We Pick page.
We explain the spec, not just the ranking
A ranking goes stale the moment a manufacturer refreshes its line-up. Understanding why a 100Ah LiFePO4 pack behaves differently from a 100Ah lithium-ion one does not. We optimise for the second thing.
We are upfront about how we make money
Some links here are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra and it does not buy anyone a better write-up. The disclosure page spells out exactly how it works.
